Language Arts you will be starting the next novel in the Hatchet series "THE RIVER"

The River: The government wants to place Brian in the wilderness again so that they can study how to help people survive in the wilderness. This time a government psychologist goes with him. During a storm the psychologist becomes incapacitated, and Brian fears he will die without medical help. He decides to build a raft and transport Derek down the river for help. 


Math you Will be continuing to work on your class work from the point where you left off for the first half of the class, for the second half you will continue to work on your Khan Academy.

Listen for Information about the Hike and make sure your papers are handed in to Ms Beal.

Field Trip Forms!!!

Hello Everybody,

Just a FYI Field trip forms are coming home for our class hike in Canmore please have them filled out and returned to Mr Smith or Ms Beal by Wednesday. NO LATER because we leave early Thursday morning!!!

1/2 Day Friday Today!!!

Well this rainy Friday will be a 1/2 day for us here at Central. Just a heads up today we will be sending a permission form home for our class hike. We will be hiking next Thursday May 30th. The hike will be in Canmore Ab, and is called the Grotto Hike. It is a great easy hike up a canyon to a waterfall, along the way the canyon walls still have pictographs on them form thousands of years ago. The old Hopi Pictographs where created by visitors from the Arizona region of the USA, where they now reside. They refer to themselves as "The Peaceful People" which stems form their full native name Hopitu.

Big Thank You To Red Deer College Science Department

Ventures at Central Middle School would like to send out a big thank you for bringing us in to there labs and showing us some pretty cool stuff. The students had a blast, and are more excited than ever to learn more about science!!!

Attack of The Gak!!! Science at its Finest.

This morning we did a little experiment and made some Gak and also tried to make some silly putty. The Gak worked out awesome, just needed some glue water and Borax. The Silly putty was a little tricker but still worked fairly well. All in all was a big success the students had a great time, getting their hands dirty ;)

One small step for man, one giant step for middle school science lol.

SCIENCE TRIP UPDATE!!!

Just a FYI the Ventures gang will be heading over to Red Deer College for a day of Science and Learning on Friday May 17th. The Guys will be working in a real science lab doing some hands on experiments. We are really excited to be going and cannot wait. More to come later.

MONDAY Bring it ON :)

Just a short note to let parents and students know I will be away this Monday, and there will be a substitute teacher in. It will be a regular day of classes for us because the show must go on.

Tuesday we will be heading back to the SPCA to do our volunteer hour as scheduled.

Who Let The Dogs OUT!!!

CMS students had a rare opportunity to learn about Fly Ball and Dog Discus from two top canine athletes. This is is conjunction with some of our students learning about and from domesticated animals at our local SPCA. The kids have been having a great time and learning a tonne, about the animals, themselves, responsibility, and what it takes to be a advocate and responsible pet owner. Awesome job everyone!!!

This opportunity provided the chance to see that there is allot more things you can do with your pet/companion than just take them for walks. Sam who is Ms Forsythe's black and white border collie is a top canine athlete, who has competed at the World Championship level for discus, and is one of the top point earners in North America for Fly ball. The kids had a great time learning and just having fun with the both Sam and Jessy.
